Education & Tutoring

The AYLUS Bellaire Branch started the E.D. White Elementary School tutoring initiative since 2022, where over 90% of students come from low-income families. The tutoring sessions in reading and math occur on Saturdays during the school year and continue through summer school. As a result of the program, the students are able to improve comprehension, speed, and accuracy in solving various problems.

Members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch organized a Back2School Drive and supply giveaway at Longfellow Elementary School. Supplies were sourced and bought from online retailers to supply over 140 students who were in need of proper materials to support their education. AYLUS members guaranteed that each student received ample amounts of supplies such as 6 pencils, a pack of crayons, a pen, erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, a composition notebook, folder, as well as a pencil bag and backpack to store all the supplies, ensuring the students were ready for the start of school.
